Yes, you can. As long as the project has a substantial machine learning or statistics component to it, you may submit work that was done for another program.

Yes, you may use a collaborative project as the basis for your CSML IW. However, your submission must clearly describe your individual contributions, which must include a substantial machine learning or statistics component.

Yes, all students must upload their work to Canvas.

Most presentation software can convert the poster to PDF. PowerPoint is commonly used and user-friendly, but Keynote, Google Slides, and Canva (requires a paid version for high-quality PDFs) are also options.

Missing the due date means you won’t pass the IW requirement for CSML. Seniors who miss the due date won’t receive the SML minor. If you need an extension due to hardship, contact us ASAP.

Independent Work Poster Information
For the CSML Poster Session, you will need to submit your assignments and engage in discussions with your fellow students through Canvas.
Instructions for submitting your work.
Submit the Tentative and Final Title and Abstract for Your Independent Work:
- Log into Canvas and go to the CSML Undergraduate Poster Session 2025 Course
- Go to Assignments on the left menu
- To upload your “tentative” or “final” title and abstract
- Click on “Submit Assignment”
- Use the “Text Entry” tab to paste your title and abstract
Tentative Title and Abstract due on February 24th, 2025
Final Title and Abstract due on May 1st, 2025
Submitting Poster and Paper:
- Log into Canvas and go to the CSML Undergraduate Poster Session 2025 Course
- Go to Assignments on the left menu
- To upload your Poster (format and sizing instructions will follow) or your Paper, click on PDF Poster Upload or Independent Study Paper
- Click on “Submit Assignment”
- Use the “File Upload” tab to browse and upload your file
Poster and Paper due on May 1st, 2025
Submitting Short Video (2-5 mins):
- Log into Canvas and go to the CSML Undergraduate Poster Session 2025 Course
- Go to Assignments on the left menu
- To upload your video, click on “Video Upload”
- Click on “Submit Assignment”
- Use the “Record/Upload Media…" to upload your video
Video due on May 1st, 2025
