On April 22nd, the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning invited undergraduate students and faculty members to its annual “Dinner with a Professor” event. This year, the participating students, all enrolled in the SML minor program, and their invited faculty guests enjoyed a lively discussion over a meal at the Princeton restaurant Mistral. It was a chance to reflect on the semester, discuss research, and share life experiences. The participants included students and faculty from art, comparative literature, computer science, economics, electrical engineering, operations research, financial engineering, robotics, and many other disciplines.

More than 300 undergraduates participate in the SML Program while majoring in various university departments. The Dinner with a Professor event, held annually for the past decade, is one way the center celebrates the campus-wide impact of statistics and machine learning at Princeton. “It's one of the highlights of the academic year,” said Director of CSML and Gordon Y.S. Wu Professor of Engineering Peter Ramadge. “The dinner serves as a special celebration of the strong connection between SML students and their faculty advisors and mentors.”
