    Parodi is slated to receive a bachelor’s degree in politics focusing on comparative politics with a special program in ethnic politics at Princeton University’s Department of Politics. In addition, he is also set on finishing requirements for the Certificate Program in Statistics and Machine Learning at the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning (CSML) and a Language and Culture Certificate in Chinese (Mandarin).

    Rona is currently studying for his master’s degree in finance, which he is on track to complete in 2019. He is also taking course work towards the Graduate Certificate in Statistics and Machine Learning at the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning (CSML). Before coming to Princeton, Rona was a student at the Universita Commerciale Luigi Bocconi In Milan, Italy, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in international management and finance and economics in 2016. Afterwards, he was part of a finance exchange program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

    Studies:

    Grace Guan is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, while also taking classes for the Certificate Program in Statistics and Machine Learning at the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning (CSML) and the Certificate Program in Global Health and Health Policy at the Center for Health and Wellbeing. Guan is also a CSML Ambassador.

    Pragya Malik, 21, Class of 2019:

    Studies: Malik is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in economics, while also completing requirements for the Certificate Program in Statistics and Machine Learning at the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning (CSML) and the Certificate Program in Values and Public Life at the University Center for Human Values.

    Research: Malik became interested in the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning because she found herself asking questions about data.

  • Student Profile: Joseph Abbate ’18 uses statistics to more accurately measure fusion plasma

    Joseph Abbate, 22, Class of 2018:

     

    Studies:

    Abbate earned his bachelor’s degree in physics along with five certificates - from the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning, the Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics, Program in Applications of Computing, Program in Engineering Physics, and Spanish. This fall, he started his doctoral studies in plasma physics at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL).

    Lydia Liu, 24, Class of 2017:

    Studies: Lydia Liu earned a bachelor’s degree in Operations Research and Financial Engineering at Princeton University, as well as certificates from the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning, Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics, and the Department of Computer Science.

    She is currently a second year doctoral student in computer science at University of California, Berkeley.

    Cathy Chen, 22, Class of 2018:

    Studies:

    Chen earned her bachelor’s degree in computer science and earned three certificates: the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning’s Certificate in Statistics and Machine Learning, and certificates in applied and computational mathematics, and neuroscience. She graduated summa cum laude.

  • Student Profile: Alex Gottlieb ’18 using data for a social purpose

    Alex Gottlieb, 22, Class of 2018:

    Studies: Alex Gottlieb earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at the Department of Politics with two certificates: the Centers’ Undergraduate Certificate in Statistics and Machine Learning and the Certificate Program in Applications of Computing from the Department of Computer Science.

    Research: Gottlieb came to Princeton with an interest in humanities and social science. But after he “accidentally” took a statistics class, he was hooked, he said.
